Real Life Project Life 3x4 cards

I hit a wall with my health and got sick this week ...ick! :)  However, not sick enough that I could not continue to create!  I cannot fathom a day without creating....I'd be twitching to jump out of bed or at least in my mind LOL .

Since I was not feeling well..I figured why not create PL cards for the days when its not golden and smelling of roses.  I have been through so much these last 3 years and my journey with doctors , IVs and tests are still not over.  I really needed cards that allowed me to express the bad days and moments in my life that my family and I are going through.   As miserable as I was feeling yesterday...these cards did bring a smile to my face.  I put in an entire day to creating these cards...I have issues committing to SAVE LOL...SAVE is like glue :)

Here they are!  REAL LIFE Project Life cards
I hope you like them as much as I enjoyed creating them! Please Pin to your wall or share with your friends on FB. Thank you so much for your support!
Cutting files will be coming soon so keep an eye out! :)

Very Merry Christmas 3x4 Cards

Last week of November and I cannot wait for December! :)

It’s the last week of November and I cannot wait for December! :) This year I am trying my hand at a December Daily (DD) album.  I need to make it interesting so I’ll stick with it LOL.  So much to do (crafting!) and so little time. I need another me in the studio. :)

I really cannot wait for my DD items to arrive from Pretty Little Studio (what a CUTE shop!) and my album from Studio Calico.  I have been watching all the ladies in the December Classroom creating their album covers and pages, and all I get to do is watch, drool and admire their gorgeous work. :)  They truly are beautiful covers! I wish I could work on mine, but I’m blocked until the UPS guy arrives :)

Until then I’ve found myself playing around with patterns and shapes in Photoshop and in my Silhouette Studio Designer. I figure while I am playing why not start designing some Christmas cards for my DD album as well as my Project Life album?  I have an idea of the colors I want to use; from there everything else will fall into place…yes it will!  I decided to take a shot at it!
click the image for download
It’s lots of work but tons of fun, especially when it’s done and you see your work.  As a test I put a screenshot on one of the PL groups. My 3x4 Christmas cards have received a wonderful welcome. :) I was really surprised and humbled by everyone wanting them.  I cannot wait to share them with all of you and see how you use them.
The effort hasn’t been entirely without frustration.  I still am trying to master this new program, SSD. It has its limits that I hope one day they will fix through a software upgrade.  It is not completely flexible like Photoshop. Mind you, I cannot print and cut in Photoshop. When that day comes my life will be complete… LOL. I will go back and forth with hopes that SSD will catch up with PS. :)

I will make the cards available in PDF for those without print and cut and for those that use SSD or SD I will have the print and cut file.  I would really appreciate it if you could pin the cards to your boards and share the link on your FB walls.

Thank you so much for your support!  I hope you enjoy adding them to your albums as much as I enjoyed creating them! :)

I have the Very Merry Christmas SET 1  and SET 2 available for download.
Cut files will be coming soon!

December Daily Page with M4M

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! :) Well almost. It's cold enough... LOL

I can't think of a better way to spend cold winter days than staying inside the studio and crafting ...creating :). I have a couple projects on the go, and this year I  trying my hand at the December Daily! However I'm also going to get my family working on it :) This way it makes it the  Family December Daily :)

Here is a peek at one of my pages.  Perfecting timing when I received M4M digi stamps! Thank you Sammie :) Adorable as always :)

I colored my wise-boy in with earth color Copics. I used the YR family but my base was earth family.  The background of my page is embossed with Detail White Embossing powder (my favorite). The cards are journaling Christmas cards by Bazzill Basics.  The dies (poinsettias, tag, holly, Christmas star and stable)  are from Silhouette, which I cut using my Cameo. The sentiment was a pop up sticker from Me & My Big Ideas Soft Spoken.
I have lots of space to journal and add several snapshots!

Well, better get back to it I am running out of time to get it done. The book should be ready to go Dec 1st :)

Copic Speed coloring Some Odd Girl "Gaze"

I cannot begin to tell you how much fun I am having creating my pages for Project Life!  So much fun that it has distracted me from making Christmas cards for the craft fairs LOL.  I cannot resist! :)

The cards are yummy, the embellishments are eye candy and the possibilities are endless!  One of the elements that I love to use in my pages are digi stamps.  Always printing, cutting and coloring :) . Aaahhh now that's the life!

Thought I would share one of my coloring moments with you. :)  In this video I am coloring the digi "Gaze" from Some Odd Girl.  The prompt for the first two weeks is my favorite book...mine is Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte.  I went on a hunt to find digis that best represented  Jane Eyre.  I went over to the forum at SOG and asked for some help as I was torn between a few of them and thankfully I was rescued. :) Thank you! :)
How did I overlook this beautiful digi!  She is perfect!

Project Life has arrived at My Whimsical Little World!

I have always been interested in scrap-booking but have never been able to commit to working through an entire album.  It just seemed like a lot of work. I figured that I would easily lose interest....about after a day lol.  I know I am not alone in this regard. Come on now... time to fess up. :)
Then, wouldn't you know it, along came Becky Higgins with Project Life! God Bless Becky!
Finally a system for those of us who have little time and, let's admit it, short attention spans. When I picture scrap-booking in my mind I just see lots of repetitious cutting and framing.  It's tedious work and, no offense to serious scrap-bookers, a little boring. Well let me tell you that Project life is anything but boring!  Unleash your creativity! Let it out! Spend just half an hour or a full week on a page. In either case, you will create something amazing, and you won't be bored for a second. The sky's the limit with this system!   There is so much variety and style.  You can use pockets of sequins for some glimmer, or just add a single picture, or maybe add one or two pictures with the rest journaling.  You can construct it whatever way you like! I really do love the freedom of just letting go. It makes it feel a lot like mixed media...just let it go and create! :) I like that! :)
I am VERY happy and excited that Project Life has made its way to My Whimsical Little World!
You can now purchase kits, page embellishments and so much more!
Follow along at My Whimsical Little World as we work on pages to fill our albums.
I will be giving out bi-weekly prompts and sharing my process for creating pages using photographs, digi stamps, and embellishments.  I will share info on the tools I use to make it even easier to create beautiful pages. I will also give tips on organizing your Project Life stash. If you would like to follow along, head on over to the Facebook group, or if you like you can follow along here and comment or post your questions. :)  I would love to hear from you and see some of your pages! :)
Here we go!
First 2 pages
Prompt --My Favorite Book and Reasons Why.  I have been wanting so long to journal my thoughts and feelings about my favorite book and what it means to me. I cannot wait to share it with all of you.
Color palette --yellow, turquoise, pink, cream. For these two pages I am using the Becky Higgins Maggie Holmes Flea Market mini kit.
If you don't have this kit you can still follow along and find these colors in your stash of paper and cut to size. You will need 4x6 cards and 3x4 cards amount depends on what types of pages you are using.

Ryan the Fox says "Trick or Treat!"

Halloween is nearly here! Only six more days as I write this! I am super excited to see the creativity around my neighborhood and all the fun costumes the kids will be wearing!

Something tells me this year we will see a fox out trick or treating thanks to the song and video. :) Speaking of the fox....What does the fox say? Sorry I couldn't help myself LOL  Sammie's ADORABLE  Ryan as a fox from M4M is saying "TRICK or TREAT!"

Keep reading if you would like to learn how I colored and gave the fox texture. But first, let's talk paper! We have to talk about paper! For the base of the card I did something different. I used SU Kraft paper and ran it through my printer to get some vintage print on it.  The layers were made with Echo Parks Fall Mini Kit, a NEW PRODUCT THAT'S ARRIVED AT THE STUDIO! Oh MY the paper is yummy! The print is so rich you can see the texture; it looks like real wood! I even used the falling leaves stickers that came with the kit! The tree I cut using my cameo as well as the sentiment. The pumpkins were cottage cuts I run through my trusty Big Shot.

Now the fun part: how to create the furry texture on the fox. I wanted texture on my fox but not all over; that would have been overkill. It's not difficult, but it does take time and patience. I first used a light earth color for the base and then I added four different earth colors and just scribbled the colors in. I made long, short, wavy and tight scribbles. Keep scribbling but take care not to overdo it with one color as these layers will start to create depth in your image.  You want to be able to see shadows and highlights.

Head on over to M4M and show support and pray for  the Firefighters who have an are still putting their lives at risk with the fires in NSW , Australia.  Sammie has created to Frank and Sarah firefighters ALL proceeds go to RFS. Very generous!

Halloween Time with Taya the Witch!

Halloween is my FAVORITE time of the year! I love all the creativity that goes into this spectacular holiday!

The possibilities of crafting really are unlimited. I was thrilled when I received the October release from Sammi at M4M...Halloween playtime!  I had TONS of fun playing in the studio with Taya as a Witch digi from Mad For Markers. Again I wanted to take it a step further than a traditional card but not go over the top and have it like a canvas :) The paper is from Stampin Up (last year's stock). Hubby can never say I don't use ALL the paper, LOL!
DT for M4M copyright 2013

The pumpkins were created with die cuts that I ran through my Big Shot; die cuts make life so much easier.  I inked all my pieces with distress ink to give it them a worn look and of course to add some depth to the elements.  I used stickles on the bat and fence to give them some sparkle. :)  Halloween is NOTHING without sparkle! :)

World Card Making day Linky Party at SOG!

Somehow while recovering from surgery and getting the house ready for renovations (mainly hubby getting it ready :) ) I could not resist joining in on the World Card Making Day Linky Party at SOG!  I had brand new yummy paper from Echo Park that just came into the studio that I wanted to showcase before I had to shut down the studio for a week of renos. I just had to! LOL :)

Christmas is only 79 days away! Can you believe it! :)
Here she is, the SOG Holly Day Gwen clear stamp! She is so lovely, perfect for my project! :)

Reflections Christmas by Lori Whitlock Echo Park Paper is now available at the Studio.  This paper is full of design and has a beautiful vintage feel to it.  The colors are rich and the paper is far superior to many that I have bought in the past. I love that fact that I get so much variety in a 6x6 pad, a convenient size, by the way, for card-making and Project Life!

Hope you all had a wonderful time creating cards this weekend for World Card Making Day! :)

Gorgeous Mermaids released at Mad For Markers!

I had lots of fun in the studio creating this project!   I love a challenge and yes you have a challenge here...creating texture! How can you have a mermaid with no need texture. :)
Texture not only looks great but gives depth to an image!  It stands out a lot more than if you had none.  Grab some different fibers and play or play with markers you have on hand.

When I opened my email I instantly fell in love with these digis and knew how I wanted to showcase them! Lots of color! How fun are these beautiful creatures!
The color pallets to choose and the textures you can create are unlimited when working on these lovely mermaids.
This week I went with a very colorful tag using Mermaid Kia Stormdancer
I started by using a shipping tag and sprayed the tag with dylusions spray and then gave the tag depth using distress ink.  Some of the elements on the tag where cut with the Cameo.  I cannot go a day without my Cameo! Best investment I have ever made! :)
I was very fortunate to find little metallic fish at the Wal-mart but they only had one bad bad :( . Lucky me! :) To top it off I gave it a pop of color by doubling the vibrant orange ribbon.
Paola Jofre 2013 DT M4M

Sammie's mermaid Kia Stormdancer was colored with Copics.  To create texture on her tail I used Copic Spica glitter pen, just a little dab will do yah! :)  As well as playing with dots using various shades of B & E.

Steampunk Ryan Paper Frame

The attraction of Steampunk is having so many textures and layers to play with and create.  As someone who can't resist texture and layers, I was delighted recently to revisit M4M

Samantha's Steampunk Ryan and this time create a paper frame that would make a beautiful gift.

I had to get creative with supplies for this project as I didn't have much on hand.  I didn't have a lot of Steampunk papers ..actually I didn't have any come to think of it.  I was resourceful and ventured to  I bought some yummy digital paper from Victoria Designs. For the base of the card I just used Kraft colored cardstock from Michael's.  I inked the sides of all the papers using Walnut distress ink. I was really happy that I was finally able to use my Vintage epherma that I bought from The Embellished Connection. I could see the layers building in my mind. :)  The sentiment was from a Simon Says Stamp September card kit.  I thought it was fitting. :) The green tag was a standard shipping tag that I sprayed with Dylusions spray and then inked with various Distress inks.  I also stamped layers onto the tag to give it more texture and a grunge feel.  One of my favorite moments creating this project was using the metallic Sharpies to create the gears.   They were perfect for the job! Once gears were dried I added them onto the piece with dimensionals to make the gears pop out and add depth.

Wonderful Things Are About to Happen!

Morning, Morning!
I am so very happy and excited to announce that I am part of the design team for Mad Markers! Yay!
Thank you very much Sammi for this opportunity.  Perfect timing in my journey of the art world.
Being part of a design team is an awesome responsibility as you get to design for the artist using their  illustrations each month and you get to tell the world all about it! The best part is meeting LOTS of many wonderfully talented people. :)   LOVE it!

For the last two days I have been working diligently in the studio on my first two projects. I am very happy with how they turned out and am very excited to show you one right now! I absolutely love this Steampunk image Sammi drew...Steampunk Brianna! She's perfect! I knew right away what I wanted to create: a mix media tag.  I just wished I had metallic paper in the studio. LOL  thinking...thinking...oh oh! the hamsters in my head are scurrying now  :) I can't begin to tell you how excited I am about how my tag turned out! My kids were thrilled when they saw it! I don't want to part with it.

Here is how I made this cute tag.  I used a package label for this project and a slew of distress inks. I will confess now that, yes, I am an ink addict; I will ink just about anything.  I distressed the tag with various colored distress inks and distress paint to give the tag texture and a grunge look. The gears, sentiment, and tab are cuts I bought at Silhouette to use with my Cameo. (Can't live without it.)   To give these elements more depth I used ink and glitter; sadly the glitter is not showing on camera, but let me tell you this tag sparkles!

My favorite part of creating any project is using my Copics... I cannot imagine my world without Copic Sketch. Below is the Copic Color Recipe I used for  Steampunk Brianna. One more thing, before I forget (and I nearly forgot :)), I used  Copic Spica glitter pens for some added sparkle.  If you haven't seen Spica Glitter pens I highly recommend checking them out. Like Lays Chips, you can't have just one! One important tip: unlike the markers Spica must be laid horizontally.
Copics I used;

E33   E21  YR16  YG09  G24  C7
E37   R22  YR18              G28  C9

Head on over to Mad Markers to check out the Steampunk collection as well as many other AWESOME stamps and stencils!

2 Challenges in 1! :)

It's summer and its a busy time with family and the studio!
I am lucky though that I get to sneak in a moment here and there to color for fun and design for the challenges.  I LOVE challenges! :)  I am having a ball over at SOG community working on  the challenges.  This challenge was to color using colored paper.  At first, I said no way it will that look good! Choosing the right color paper, matters. Lighter papers work best. It takes a great deal more patience to acheive the color because it involves lots of layers and you must wait inbetween layers or you will feather. However, I did not give up, this was my first try and I am happy with it.  Turned out a  lot better than I thought it would and I will diffidently do it again!

My focus is the 30 day challenge... but having a life it will take me more than 30 days LOL.  I can do it!  This month I thought I would also join in with the Sketch of the month at the SOG blog.  Timing was also quite perfect as my new paper and embellishments from Echo Park arrived.  So much yummy paper in the studio!  Wish I could keep it all...sadly its for sale :)
Pictures & prices will be going up next week....Yay! The Studio is growing but the focus will be on certain items and brands only. :)  News of the studio later :) ...for now, here is my card for the SOG sketch of the month challenge. Hope you like it! :)

Blue & Green with a Splash of Mix media

Who doesn't love a challenge?
I do! I do! :)  I was super excited when I read about the blue&green challenge at SOG community  and was even more excited when I found out I can enter the same card in their monthly sketch challenge!  Whoo hoo! I am new to these challenges (does it show LOL )still learning how to navigate them, but am loving every minute creating one of kind cards and meeting new people of like minds. :)  Loving it!

Back to my card....I created my card using SOG  Sneaky Boy Tobie digi stamp and played with non-traditional papers for creating the layers on my card.  I really wanted something different, brighter, textures and sturdier.  I colored the digi with my Copic sketch markers using only blues and greens..well except the skin. :)  He is a cheeky little guy so finding the right sentiment was a challenge in itself...however I dug around my stash for stamps no luck there.  I searched the internet for digi cuts and found the perfect sentiment at the Silhouette site. I have never cut words so tiny before on my Cameo so that was interesting and thank goodness I remembered to use scrap paper while testing (I had several test runs LOL ).  Eventually I did figured out!  I was able to get my sentiment cut out and look good.  Played around with it on the card and I felt it needed something more.  I wanted to add some mix media in there but it had to be subtle.  To make the words stand out I sprayed some tags.  Once you spray tags it is amazing to see how the fibers of the paper react to the sprays and vice versa.  It made the card more interesting with the texture and different shades of blue on the wording.  I added little metal stars, they were grey at first but then I smudged some Inka Blue Gold on them, if you are a mix media lover you have to try the Inka Gold product.  That was a lot of fun! :)

Hope you like my card for SOG blue & green weekly challenge plus the monthly sketch challenge!

Pink, Purple, Orange Oh My!

I am keeping my promise!
Lots of color in the studio this summer!
I've been working hard on a super cute mixed media project for a children's workshop. (Adults can take the workshop too!) I wanted to create something cute and colorful where the colors can easily be replaced by other colors.  I did not want the kids to go home with a finished piece. That's no fun! No,  I wanted them to go home with a finished piece PLUS the opportunity to keep creating.
To achieve this, I played with different variations of an art journal that the children could easily put together and wouldn't take until Christmas to do . :)  I also wanted to teach them several easy techniques that they could do at home with things they could find in the dollar store or right in their own home.  I think I accomplished that today! However, I didn't stop there.  I was super excited by the finished piece and knew that the children would also be proud of their work and would want to display it and showcase it.  Thankfully, I had a white frame laying around that was meant to be used for my certification certificates but was too small for this use...LOL. There you have it! I am one of those who does not measure first. I cut first, I can't help myself! :) Anyhoo, I grabbed my owl piece and TADA!  It fits in the frame and it looks incredible!  The white frame makes the colors stand out even more.  This was the perfect way for the children to showcase their work and they are also able to display any of the pages they have created on no need to buy a bunch frames! :)

I will be posting details for this workshop by mid week. Keep your eyes on My Whimsical Little Worlds fan page and spread the word by sharing the fan page.

Get Ready! Get Set! Its Going to be a Creative, Colorful Summer!

It has been quite some time since I have posted.  I will be honest and say that I am THE worst for a blog!  I don't know how bloggers with fan pages and websites do it! Kudos to you! :)

Also please note that my blog is under construction to get it looking just the way I like it and that it fits my needs.  So please bare with me as I get to look right and behave as it should. :)
Here we go....
For the last few months I have been trying to find my niche and I am happy to say that I am getting pretty close to finding it.  I have been very fortunate in playing in all sorts of mediums this past year.  I love to try new things and I whole heartily dive in devouring all the information I can possibly adsorb so that I can try to create something decent LOL
I am also very blessed in that I am slowly recovering or at least getting my health back to the point where I can now teach part time.  A new chapter in my life. :)

So! What have I been up to? LOTS!  Lots of colorful art in any shape or form.
Medium of choice right now.  Copics!  LOVE LOVE LOVE Copics! Can you tell I love them LOL
This spring (April 2013) I became a Certified Intermediate Copic Designer.  Yay me! This was no easy task for me as I had to fly to the location on my own and bring all my supplies for my medical needs with me.  I was very lucky that the hotel staff made it possible for me and without my husband there I would never have been able to do the courses.  I love him dearly for all the support he has given me.
I had so much fun! I thrive being surrounded by art, I do not notice that I am sick.  Its just me, I feel like my old self again.  That is a VERY good thing! I had so much fun learning as much as I could about the Copic markers, particularly the Copic Sketch.   Now I am so thrilled to be able to bring Copics to the Ottawa Valley and teach how to use them.  You read right!  My Whimsical Little World now teaches and sells Copic product! Yay! Very excited!
What is even more exciting is playing with tons of cool stamps from various designers! I was super excited when I came across Some Odd Girl stamps and Saturated Canary Stamps.  Both very talented ladies! Two different Unique styles ...LOVE it!
So sit back and enjoy the coloring! Its going to be a CREATIVE & COLORFUL summer in the Valley! :)
