Water-color embossed background

Morning everyone! :)

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and that your weather was grand. :)

I was in the studio creating some cards for my project life using NEW April release Bunny Girl Gwen clear stamp from Some Odd Girl.  I love texture and color so I played around this time with water-colors and embossing powder.  What a cool effect! So much fun!  Check out my how to video at Some Odd Girl blog on how to create  a Water-color embossed background for your Project Life cards!

Painting on T-shirts...oh my! :)

This is a first for me! So please be gentle.  :)
I have painted on various items, canvases, canvas bags, wood, plastic, paper even a face.  LOL :)  I have never painted on a t-shirt though.  I just had to try it!
First thing was to make a stencil.  I had to make sure the paint did not go under the stencil so I used freezer paper as my stencil. One side is wax and the other is not, once you iron on it it will temporarily adhere to the fabric.  Regular wax paper will not work as the wax will get sticky on your iron and it will not adhere as well as freezer paper.

I then used my Silhouette Cameo to make a stencil with Some Odd Girls pear digi stamps Anjou and sentiment Have a Pearfect Day!
You have to be careful when cutting the freezer paper with your cutting machine, make sure the shiny side is facing you. Otherwise your paper won't cut, the blade will just drag it.
I then ironed on my stencil. I placed paper over the stencil as I ironed and made sure it was not set to steam.  It does not take long at all to get it to stick.

Then I used some white fabric paint and made sure to go outside the lines to give it a grunge look.

Next step I peeled my freezer paper off and Voila! If you want you can leave it as.  I needed some color, so I started to mix some fabric paints to create some colors to paint in the pear.  I also used a sea sponge to create the orange splatters hear and there.

Fun project! Quick and easy! Give it a try and let me know how yours turns out.  I would love to hear from you and would love support by having you pin my pics. Thank you :)

Hip Hop Hooray!

Hi everyone!
Paola here with a couple of special treats featuring April's release of Hip Hop Hooray clear stamp set!  I created a treat box to hang on a door and a matching mini card.  I colored these adorable bunnies and their yummy treats with my Copics, and I Modge-Podged them to protect them from wear and tear as well as from fading. The sentiments are from the stamp set Hip Hop Hooray, as are the treats.  I used Orange bamboo twine from the Odds & End section of Some Odd Girl Shop.
What wonderful treats for your little ones to wake up to on Easter morning. :)

New release Bunny Girl Gwen at Some Odd Girl!

Hi everyone!
Paola here with a very cute Easter canvas bag featuring Some Odd Girls April's new release clear stamp set, "Bunny Girl Gwen"!  I love mix media and I love it when Kristy’s stamps inspire me to push myself to create something using everything in my studio.
First I had to make my Easter bag from canvas material.  Before I even began to paint I had to lay down a layer of gesso to prepare the canvas, and then off I went with my acrylic paints and tackled the background.  I used my gel pens to doodle and my Copics to color in  Bunny Girl Gwen.  I modge-podged Gwen to give her a shine and make her hold up as the kids run around looking for eggs. Then I adhered her to the bag with interface just to give her a bit more dimension than the other elements.
The heart on the handle is also part of the Bunny Girl Gwen stamp set. I attached it with a very tiny brad to the handle.  The sentiment "You're a bunny girl!" on the clouds is one of three that comes with Bunny Girl Gwen.

April Showers...bring May flowers :)

I hope you are all enjoying a beautiful day!  It is sunny but still a bit chilly in the Ottawa Valley,  not so bad that I can't fit in my walks though. :)  So looking forward to when the snow is gone, the flowers bloom, and the rain washes away all the dust left behind from the brutal winter we had.  Until then I will imagine and live through projects in my studio.

Today's Mix Media creation I made especially for the April Showers Challenge going on right now at the Some Odd Girl Facebook Group. Post your creation at the Some Odd Girl Facebook group and don't forget to link up at the Linky Party at the Some Odd Girl blog.
I created Oh Happy Day with digis Puddle hopping Tia & Rainy Mae.  The sentiment  is clear stamp Happy Day.  The girls were colored with my Copics.  Sadly you can't see it in the image, but I applied Copic Spica Glitter to their boots and just a bit on the puddle.  For Tia's polka dots on her umbrella, I used liquid pearls, just because I love texture. :) You can never have too much texture!

I didn't just want to place the sentiment on to my project.  I wanted it to have a hanging look, so I punched out some tiny holes and used Blue Bamboo Twine from the Odd & Ends section of the Some Odd Girl Shop.

To protect all of my mix media projects from fading my final layer is a coat of Modge Podge.

I'm an Oddie Girl! Wheee! #someoddgirl

Hi everyone! :)
I’m dying to tell you some AWESOME news! I could hardly believe it at first! It is starting to sink in now.  It has been really difficult keeping it a secret, because I am such a big kid. It's official, I am an Odd Girl :) ...I am now officially part of the 2014-2015 Some Odd Girl Clear Stamp team! Yay me! (Jumping up and down screaming) :) …..I absolutely LOVE Kristy's Characters..they always inspire me!  Wowzers..breathing now! LOL.  I am beyond happy!  Huge honor to be on the Some Odd Girl Design Team.  I am so looking forward to working with such a talented group of ladies and making new friendships along the way. New and exciting things are going to be happening at Some Odd Girl and I cannot wait to get started!
Each of us was asked to share a creation that best describes us...I was too excited to narrow it down, so Leah, bless her heart chose for me.  There it is below.  I recently made this pop-up card using  Some Odd Girl Digi stamp "Hand Holding Mae & Kody".  This Valentine card represents how much I love to challenge myself and my love for detail and color.
