Meet The Artist

Hi everyone! I am so happy you stopped by. My name is Paola (pronounced Paula).

First and foremost I am mom to four amazing kids. Two of them are adults now, and the two younger ones are my “trolls”. I am married to a very handsome and supportive man. He has so much patience – he’s an enabler even -- for the hamsters in my head. I am very blessed.

I have always loved the arts. I can recall drawing and crafting when I was eight, possibly younger. I haven’t stopped since. Then in the blink of an eye my life was turned upside down. I became very ill and needed surgery to have a growth removed from my kidney. It took me year to feel like myself again. I announced to my peers that I was returning back to child photography, another artistic passion of mine. But then my health turned again. I got dysphagia, which reduced my ability to swallow food. I spent a great deal of time in the hospital trying to eat and get stronger to go home. But my artistic ambitions could not be deterred.

While in the hospital I had my moleskin drawing book and Faber-Castell pencils close by. Each day I would plug myself into my IPhone to drown the sounds of the hospital out. I listened to Amilee. The mood set, I would grab a pencil and just let go. I doodled. I drew whimsical little girls and wrote messages of courage next to them. I was pouring my heart out. After being released from the hospital I continued to draw. Over time my health improved a little and I was able to open a studio and teach mixed media and Copic coloring. Along the way I met some wonderful ladies who introduced me to scrapbooking. I began to attend their crops, and yet another artistic avenue opened up to me.

I still face challenges with my health. But I’m eager to participate in this amazing crafty world of ours. “My Whimsical Little World” was just a fan page of my work when I started it. Now it is an art studio/supply store and a showcase for my digis. I am super excited to see where this takes me and all the people that I will meet along the way. I am very blessed.

Hugs
Paola :)

  1. Wow that is quite a story but I am so glad your getting better. I have only been doing card making for about 4 years now but I love it. I enjoy coloring with my copics and I take classes on line with Kit and Clowder and I can see the difference in my coloring. I love mixed media and all the different techniques. I am so glad I found your fb page. Good luck to you and wishing you nothing but good health and my God Bless you always. Your talent is amazing and wonderful.

  2. Stopping by to see how you are doing. I haven't been around for a little while. I've been busy with grand children. The older ones are all 11yrs. old, my little Lilly is 2 1/2 (almost) and now I have a new grand baby boy isn't even a month old yet. Then I always watch all their pets when they go on vacations and such. I'm so far behind on my whimsy stamps!!! Visiting here will keep in fresh in my mind! Must run Paula, dogs need to go out.
You take care too ya hear! We all love you too much!! :)
